Clearfield's Gym Reopens Nov. 2, the Pool Nov. 9: Where to Swim in Between

  • October 29, 2026

The Clearfield City Aquatic & Fitness Center at 825 S. State Street is closed this week, but not all of it will stay closed the same amount of time. The land and fitness areas closed Oct. 26 and reopen Monday, Nov. 2. The pool and aquatic areas closed Oct. 24 and stay closed through Nov. 8, reopening Monday, Nov. 9. If you lift, you lose one week. If you swim, you lose 16 days, and finding a substitute takes more planning. Each nearby pool covers different hours, and the right one depends on the day and on whether you need lanes or open swim.

Two closures on one building

The full center closed at noon on Oct. 23 for Boonanza. The pools then stayed closed that Saturday, and the land side opened only for a short Sunday window, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 25. From Monday on, the two closures split.

The land side has the weight room, cardio equipment, indoor track, basketball courts and group fitness classes. All of that comes back after this weekend. The water side has the indoor leisure pool with its lazy river, the lap pool and the hot tub. That side sits out one more weekend, Nov. 7 and 8.

Those amenities split the swimmers into two groups, and each group needs a different substitute. A lap swimmer needs lanes at a time that fits a workday. A parent of a 6-year-old who loves the lazy river needs something closer to open swim. The pools below cover those needs on different days.

The center hasn't posted a reason for the closure. For questions about memberships during the shutdown, the front desk number is 801.525.2641.

Which pool covers which day

Here is the second week of the pool closure, laid out by day using each facility's posted fall and winter hours.

Read the table by column and each pool fills a different gap.

Layton Surf 'n Swim works for early-morning lap swimmers who want to spend the least. The wave pool has an eight-lane lap area. Lap swim runs every weekday morning from 5 to 10 a.m., with extra evening lanes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Winter admission is $4 for lap swim or open wave, $4 for seniors, and free for children under 3. Tubes cost $3, and outside tubes aren't allowed. For comparison, a youth day pass at Clearfield's own center is $6. For a lap swimmer, the closure spent in Layton can cost less per visit than staying home would have.

Roy Recreation Complex works for weekday evenings with kids. Its open swim runs 5 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, the closest match to an after-school or after-work trip to the Clearfield leisure pool. On Saturday, open swim runs from 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. The complex is at 2150 W 4700 S in Roy, and the front desk is at 801-774-1050. It is closed on Sundays, so plan your weekend around that.

South Davis Recreation covers Sundays. The district's 2026 school-year schedule has the lap pool open Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., which neither Layton nor Roy offers. On weekdays its leisure pool runs from 4 to 9 p.m., and on Saturdays from noon to 7 p.m. The district's posted nonresident day admission is $8.50 for adults and $6.50 for youth ages 3 to 17 and for seniors. That's about double the Layton price. It's still the only option on the table for an afternoon swim on Sunday, Nov. 8.

Weekday early afternoons are thin at every pool. Roy's lap swim ends at 1 p.m., Layton's ends at 10 a.m., and the leisure pools don't open until late afternoon. If your usual swim is a lunch break, Roy before 1 p.m. is the latest weekday option.

When the plan is staying dry

Not every closure-week outing has to involve a pool. For a family that used the aquatic center as its winter-evening default, the newest indoor option in Clearfield is on the east side of town.

Crush Golf + Grill is now open at 1375 S. 1750 E. The Davis Journal's new-business spotlight, run with the Davis Chamber, described it as close to Hill Air Force Base with easy access to I-15. The venue has 52 climate-controlled tee boxes. Each holds up to six guests, and pricing is by the hour for the whole bay, not per person.

The posted rates on the Crush Golf + Grill Clearfield page:

  • Monday through Thursday: $29 an hour before 5 p.m., $39 an hour from 5 to 11 p.m.
  • Friday: $29 an hour before 5 p.m., $49 an hour from 5 p.m. to midnight
  • Saturday: $39 an hour from 9 a.m. to noon, $49 an hour from noon to midnight
  • Sunday: $39 an hour all day

The per-bay pricing puts it closer to a pool trip than you might expect. A $29 weekday-afternoon bay split six ways comes to under $5 a person, about what Surf 'n Swim charges for open wave. On Saturday afternoon of Halloween weekend, the same six people pay $49 for the hour.

Posted hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to midnight Friday, 9 a.m. to midnight Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday. Walk-ins are welcome. Bay reservations have to be made at least three hours ahead and no more than 30 days out. That 30-day window already reaches into late November. Crush is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, so plan a family outing over the long weekend for one of the days around it.

You don't need to swing a club to go. The kitchen serves walk-in diners with smash burgers, fire-grilled wings, loaded nachos and wood-fired pizzas, plus local draft beer, craft cocktails and mocktails, and it takes online orders. The phone number is 385-785-4500.

What comes back on Nov. 2 and Nov. 9

The reopening happens in two steps, like the closure did.

  1. Monday, Nov. 2. The weight room, cardio floor, indoor track and courts reopen, so lifters and walkers are back on their regular routine after one week.
  2. Monday, Nov. 9. Pools reopen. The center's class calendar for Nov. 9 lists The Water Experience, Power H2O and Shallow Fit that day, along with land-based fitness classes.
  3. Into December. The Dec. 1 calendar lists Aqua Motivation, Shallow Fit, Liquid Moves and Zumba as recurring classes.

Anyone thinking about a membership while the doors are closed can check the posted rates on the Clearfield Aquatic & Fitness page. An individual membership is $29.99 a month. Adding a first person costs $10 more a month, and each dependent after that adds $5. There's no enrollment or cancellation fee, and financial assistance is available.

The center's December traditions come after the reopening. The city's events page lists the Tree Lighting Ceremony and Swim with Santa among its recurring events, but 2026 dates aren't up yet. Last year, Discover Davis listed the tree lighting at City Hall on Dec. 1, 2025, at 6 p.m., and Swim with Santa at the aquatic center on Dec. 13, 2025, from 10 a.m. to noon. Those are last year's dates, so check the city's page before you put them on your calendar.
